Thanks for visiting Patrician Tours. We're working on this new site, so please check back soon for more information.
Patrician Tours is a small guiding service offering custom designed tours of Paris for the discriminating traveler. Both returning and first-time visitors will be able to relax and enjoy their vacations to France while their itineraries are carefully developed to maximize their stay in the City of Light. Moreover, guests can be assured that the unique itineraries are crafted specifically according to their own interests and priorities.
Weather permitting, the full and half-days are generally walking tours that include visits to museums, monuments and gardens, both historic sights and hidden gems. We may use public transportation for longer and less interesting trips across town, though it is also possible to hire a driver for the day or half day as well as to arrange for airport transfers.
The goal of Patrician Tours is to take the worry out of clients' vacations and mind the details of local reservations and itinerary planning so that travelers can optimize their time in Paris and environs. They will also have the benefit of being escorted by experienced bilingual guide who will ensure that they see as much as they can during their stay.
Recent days have included a mix of museum visits and walking tours of neighborhoods such as the Latin Quarter and Marais, trips to the flea market and antique shops, a walk through a local fruit and vegetable market, exploration of a tucked away square or charming pocket garden. Many enjoy a visit to the Louvre Museum and its medieval fortress, a discussion of the origins of Paris and visit to the site of its founding on the Ile de la Cité, a stroll along the riverbank with its famous bookstalls, and a walk through the Orsay museum with commentary on the major artistic movements of the Nineteenth century such as Impressionism. Others prefer monumental Paris on a tour of the city's oft-photographed sites including the Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle and Arc de Triomphe, among others. Those who have previously been to Paris often appreciate less-frequented places like the Viaduc des Arts with its legions of artisans' shops, smaller museums such as the Jacquemart-André. Thematic visits of the city, such as Roman, Literary, or Historic Paris are popular as are tours which focus on Gardens, Left Bank and Paris with Children. Additional possibilities include a train ride/driver to the Château de Versailles and its expansive grounds, a visit to Monet's charming house and gardens at Giverny (available April through October), the Châteaux of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Chantilly, among many of the possiblities in the Paris region.
A wide range of historical and cultural information is given, as are practical tips for navigating the city and negotiating transactions in French. Clients have frequently remarked that the suggestions offered were invaluable and made their stays worry-free, more pleasant and educational.
